I'm a web development / content management specialist with seriously wide interests and hobbies.

I've written a novel, edited a dozen published novels, traveled widely in England, Germany and Italy, love Art Deco, am a retro fashion diva, and on top of that I love photography. I'm also an inveterate blogger and Twitterer and Facebooker. Basically I cannot help bubbling and babbling about the world, esp. ideas and imagery.

I've had the picture bug since I was a little girl. My dad used to get so irritated with me because I'd take my Kodak Disc camera and instead of taking nice pics of the family and regular "snapshot" pics, I'd take pics of trees, historic homes, and household items like the toilet and the fridge or my toys, like naked Barbies and stuff. And Mom and Dad would have to foot the development bill! At least now I can induldge myself for free courtesy of digital photography.

As far as what I like to photograph, I'm mostly attracted to architecture, sculpture, and landscapes. I tend to try for unusual or dramatic angles, silhouettes, shadows or cool textures. I'll use black and white when it's more about the structure than the color content. (Speaking of, I am pretty sure I have some kind of sensory defect because I really prefer images in either black and white or with very strong contrast, like in my "Hyper Real Photo" collection here on DA.)

Here on DA I've created quite a few collections and favorite things often because I find all sorts of things fascinating, gorgeous, objects for thought, revealing, etc. I'm mostly on the lookout for photography, especially black and white, architecture, abstract, stuff, etc., but I also collect based on styles and genres, like Art Deco, Art Nouveau, Surrealism. Oh, and I'm a sucker for cat and bird pics.

I am in awe of people who can draw and design in styles I love, like 1930s Art Deco poster style or pen and ink work a la Edward Gorey. I actually draw and paint myself but it's all very expressionist, rarely realistic. (I should scan some of it one day.) I see it all in my head very clearly but it will NOT come out -- but that's what makes my art "my" art, I'm told. I used to get really frustrated when people would complement my stuff because it was -not- what I had meant to do, but now I know it's OK. And I guess the reason I like photography is that my photos DO show what I'm seeing in my head!

Many thanks to everyone and anyone visiting this profile, commenting or favoriting.

It's rare when I don't like something of yours.

Meanwhile I need to create a new Favorites folder for collage and mixed media. I keep putting all of that under Drawing and Paintings and it clearly isn't :)
