Figure carving on top left of front entrance of the Southern Bell Telephone Company Building. Shot with digital zoom from across the street so I am very surprised how nicely this came out. I use a weenie little Canon Elph.

Background
Designed by the same folks who later did the Fabulous Fox Theater about a mile north, the first six stories were built in 1929. It was supposed to be 25 stories but then the Depression hit and construction was halted. It started up again in the 40s and resumed in the 60s... and then later a horrible microwave tower (shown in a couple of these shots) was added. So basically you have this nicely shaped 16-story building with lots of fab details on the bottoms floors and then a rather plain look further up. The whole thing is clad in sandstone.
